CAA Football is blogging from Frisco, Texas…site of the 2011 NCAA Division I Football National Championship. The CAA Football staff arrived in Dallas this evening and made our way to the Great Barbecue Bowl held at the Frisco Convention Center. Both squads were treated to a Texas-sized barbecue feast.
There are all sorts of updates to post on the blog about what the Blue Hens have been doing since they got here yesterday. Below are a few videos we got from Delaware Online TV & WHYY. Take a look at what has been chronicled thus far.
One more video we found was created by the Delaware media services and shows highlights from the Blue Hens’ win over Georgia Southern and the celebration that ensued at Delaware Stadium. Click Here to watch that video.
Finally…the best place to find all kinds of videos from Delaware’s communications department while in Frisco is to like the Blue Hens on Facebook…click here to like the Blue Hens or visit their page to see all sorts of videos and photo galleries. During the day Wednesday the Hens took part in a pep rally at a local elementary school…who knew there were so many young Blue Hen fans in Frisco, Texas…Go Hens!!!
You can follow us on Twitter throughout the weekend…if you are at the game or watching it on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. (ET) Friday then tweet about it and hashtag it with #GoHens. Let’s get that tag to trend!!!
Can the Delaware Blue Hens become the league’s third-straight National Champion? Be sure to vote in our poll to the right or below.
Prior to the season we created a CAA Football commercial than aired during each of our 20+ league television games which included the water-cooler baths for each of our championship wins. Do you think Coach Keeler will be added to this after Jan. 7? Leave us a comment below and tell us what you think?
CAA Football continues to Digg! You can see some of the recent news articles we are Digging in the widget down the right margin of the blog. Send us some articles/news links at firstname.lastname@example.org if you find some features we may have missed.
We also encourage you to visit CAA Football Gameday Central Friday evening at CAASports.com. The National Championship game will be featured with links to livestats, video and audio streams and more. As stated above you can come back to the blog on gameday to find a link directly to National Championship Gameday Central.
Just a heads up on what we hope will be a “Championship Celebration” recap. Due to NCAA rules regarding championship play video we may not have too much in the way of video recaps. We will attempt to capture any postgame celebrations or postgame reaction following next Friday’s game and will definitely post those here and on CAASports.com.
Now on to some news and notes from around the league this week…
Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin has been invited to play in the East-West Shrine Game. Watch Devlin compete this Friday on ESPN2…who knows, his performance this weekend may help him elevate to a bigger and better postseason showcase game.
Massachusetts’ wide receiver Anthony Nelson was named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team along with Delaware’s Devlin and Mark Mackey and Rhode Island’s Matt Rae. Click here to visit the UMass site for information on Nelson and his honor as well as a link to the full list of FCS honorees.
As the postseason approaches so do invites to postseason showcase games as well as the NFL Combine. Above we mentioned Devlin’s invite to the East-West Shrine Game. Earlier in the week Richmond’s Martin Parker and Justin Rogers accepted invites to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
Villanova’s Matt Szczur was back in the news late last week. The senior was named Delco Sports Figure of the Year by the Delaware County Daily Times. Click here to be taken to the VUHoops.com blog about the honor…it includes a link to the article from the Delco Times.
