Time for another weekly CAA Football roundup here on the blog. It’s a big hoops time during the year and we definitely want to show our support for the CAA connections. Both Richmond (CAA Football school) and VCU (CAA full member) compete tonight in the NCAA Southwest Regional Sweet Sixteen. Best of luck to both the Spiders and Rams!
Last week we posted a video, a list and some detailed directions on how our fans could participate in this season’s Spring/Summer CAA Football coverage. Click here to be taken to that post for the details. We have received some good feedback so far, but only one of our fans has submitted questions. Below is a couple examples of what Rich Hartland wants us to ask some of the Blue Hens:
1. What part of your individual game are looking to improve on during the spring and into the 2011 season?
2. How would Coach K.C. Keeler look if he grew a beard?
Thanks to Rich for emailing us those questions…now it is your turn. It is easy…you can message us or write your questions on our wall on facebook. You can tweet your questions to us on twitter or you can email them to us. First and foremost watch the video below and also click the link below to find out which student-athletes we plan to interview. Don’t wait to send us your questions either, as we plan to start our skype interviews next week.
On to some of the news that happened over the week. The Sports Network announced the addition of a new end-of-the-year honor for 2011-12. The group will present the Jerry Rice Award to the nation’s top freshman. The honor will be sponsored by Fathead.com.
Our friends at College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) sent over some interview videos they were able to capture following the season. Below is a video interview with Delaware head coach K.C. Keeler and quarterback Pat Devlin.
James Madison and head coach Mickey Matthews kickoff the spring season today in Harrisonburg.
Maine held its Pro Day yesterday. We found some highlights of the day thanks to Maine’s website & YouTube. The Black Bears also caught up with a current NFL player and Maine alum Matt Mulligan…you can watch that video below.
Massachusetts head coach Kevin Morris and linebacker Tyler Holmes took part in a CFPA interview following the season and that is below. The Minutemen will hold their Pro Day today, but some of their outgoing seniors took part in a Pro Day held at Boston College…click here for a recap of that event from ESPNBoston.com. A week ago the Minutemen also hired a new defensive coordinator in Frank Forcucci. A bit of other football related news at UMass includes the radio crew’s ninth-straight Associated Press Broadcasting Award.
Old Dominion filled its vacant Director of Football Operations position last week when it elevated Chris Crouch from the interim role. The Monarchs also open up their spring session today. Rich Radford wrote an article about how ODU’s focus now turns to preparing to play CAA Football.
Rhode Island head coach Joe Trainer announced a handful of staff changes earlier this week. We hinted at a handful of these a month or so ago, but the Rams’ head coach made them official Tuesday.
Villanova head coach Andy Talley released the Wildcats’ 2011 schedule earlier this week. Talley also caught up with CFPA for a postseason interview…you can watch that below.
William and Mary began its spring practices late last week. The Tribe has posted a handful of photo galleries from each practice. Click the following dates to find some of those — March 21 & March 23. William and Mary also began its 2011 season-ticket push last week. Current season-ticket holders have until April 29 to renew for the upcoming season.
Check back tomorrow…we plan to pay tribute to New Hampshire’s Todd Walker who tragically lost his life March 18. Our thoughts go out to his family and the New Hampshire Football family.
