2011 CAA Football Roundup – 4.13

Yesterday we blogged about Matt Greenhalgh from Rhode Island who is a bone marrow match for an individual with leukemia.  Below in some of the schools’ sections of the blog we link to announced Bone Marrow donation drives.  The drives are for registration only so that if you are a match then you will go through donation process like Matt did.  Click on the links below to find out where and how easy it is for you to register to be a possible donor.

If you frequent this blog then you probably saw the video below about our spring/summer video interviews on Skype.  It is still not too late to submit your questions for those interviews.  We have scheduled a couple interviews already and you can expect those to be posted by the end of the month.  Send us your questions to ask the student-athletes as soon as you can using these links:  Twitter, Facebook, Email or hit the comment links below.  IT’S EASY!!!

Some of you have responded to our schedule release asking about any television games.  We are in the process of working with all our television partners to select a great lineup of televised games.  You can anticipate the release of our initial television package as early as mid-May.  The official television schedule release will occur at CAA Football Media Day, July 27, in Baltimore, Md.

Delaware announced plans for its Spring Game this Friday and will surround it with a “Fandemonium” event.  A great event surrounding the Blue Hens’ end to their spring season.

James Madison will “Tackle The Capital” this weekend when it holds a spring practice and scrimmage at SportsQuest in Richmond Saturday.  The Dukes will open parking lots in advance of the scrimmage to allow for tailgating.  Head coach Mickey Matthews does plan to address those in attendance at some point during the event.  Last weekend JMU held a scrimmage at Shenandoah University.  Watch the recap video below for post-practice comments from Matthews.

Maine continues to hold spring practices and recently caught up with head coach Jack Cosgrove on a video journal entry.  Click here to be taken to the Black Bears’ football homepage, then click on the video window on the right side of the page to watch.

Former UMass defensive back James Ihedigbo earned a prestigious honor this past weekend.  The current New York Jet was named the Nigerian Healthcare Foundation Faces of Hope Humanitarian of the Year.  The Minutemen also continue spring drills and posted the video below recapping some of their progress.

New Hampshire will hold a bone marrow registration drive Monday, May 2.  Click here for details on the event and watch the video promo below.  The Wildcats also altered their 2011 schedule from what they previously announced and signed some agreements for future football schedules.  Included in those agreements was a home-and-home for this year with Holy Cross.  The Holy Cross game will replace the originally scheduled game with Central State and move UNH’s open week to Sept. 17.

Old Dominion held a scrimmage last weekend and posted a couple videos.  One a recap with highlights and the other with post-practice reaction.  ODUSports.com also caught up with J.J. Williams for a look into the linebacker’s thoughts on being part of CAA Football.

Richmond held its spring game this past weekend.  Below is a video recap of the event at Robins Stadium.  The Spiders and head coach Latrell Scott will also join in the fight to help save a life with their Bone Marrow Registration Drive this Friday.

Towson head coach Rob Ambrose welcomed Reno Ferri to the Tigers’ coaching staff this week.  Towson also continues its spring workouts and posted a recap of one of its morning practices.  You can also watch a video interview with Tigers assistant Jared Ambrose below.

Villanova wrapped up its spring session last week.  Philly.com caught up with the Wildcats to produce this video recap.
